Improving Defense Acquisition Workforce Capability in Data Use

The Department of Defense acquisition system—overseen by the Undersecretary for Acquisition and Sustainment—strives to provide efficient and timely outputs that result in operational benefits to war fighters. This study and workshop aim to support improvements to the defense acquisition workforce’s data science education to fully exploit the range of benefits associated with oversight and management of major defense acquisition programs.

The workshop will identify relevant data science skills and capabilities necessary for the acquisition workforce and the study will make recommendations for how DoD can accelerate data analysis capabilities within the acquisition workforce.
