The Board on Environmental Change and Society and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine invites you to participate in a critical workshop titled "Public Infrastructure for Effective Climate Mitigation and Adaptation." This workshop is scheduled in two sessions: the first on May 20th from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM EST, and the second on May 29th from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM EST.

This workshop aims to delve into the critical role of public infrastructure in climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. With the escalating challenges posed by climate change, understanding and enhancing our public infrastructure has never been more important. This workshop will provide a platform for a robust discussion on how infrastructure intersects with environmental change, contributes to sustainable and just responses to these changes, and how various disciplines such as engineering, economics, social science, and policy and law are engaging with these issues to reduce climate risks effectively.

Key discussion points will include:

Defining "infrastructure" in the context of environmental change.
Exploring the contributions of public infrastructure to sustainable and equitable climate responses.
Addressing interdisciplinary approaches to enhancing public infrastructure for better climate risk management.

Attendees will gain insights into the current state of public infrastructure, its challenges, and opportunities in the context of climate change mitigation and adaptation. This workshop is designed for professionals, academics, policymakers, and anyone interested in the intersection of public infrastructure and climate action.
