Informatics Needs and Challenges in Cancer Research: A Workshop

The National Cancer Policy Forum held a public workshop to examine informatics needs and challenges for a broad spectrum of cancer research, from basic science to translational research, product development, clinical trials, comparative effectiveness, and health services research. Workshop presentations and discussions examined the need to organize, manage, access, and exchange data; challenges in integrating research and clinical data to facilitate personalized medicine; and the development of tailored therapies based on the genetic makeup of individual patients and tumor characteristics.
