The Roundtable on Translating Genomic-Based Research for Health (now the Roundtable on Genomics and Precision Health) was established by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to provide a structured opportunity for dialogue and discussion of relevant issues related to the translation of genomic information for use in maintaining and improving health. The Roundtable identified a need for a workshop to examine existing systems that create the kinds of resources and structure that facilitate evaluation of genome-based health care. More specifically, the focus of the workshop will address the practical realities of creating such systems; the different models that could be used; the strengths and weaknesses of each model; and the effectiveness of such systems in addressing health outcomes.
