Anatomy and Prevention of Syndemics - How Opioid Abuse, HIV, Mental Health and Social Disparities are Impacting Interpersonal Violence and Suicide: A Workshop

Completed

This workshop was developed to study the connections between violence and other public health concerns in the U.S. and around the world. Participants explored the cross-reinforcements between interpersonal and self-directed violence (i.e., suicide) and multiple epidemics, such as opioid misuse, HIV, and adverse childhood experiences. The evidence base for policies and programs with potential for synergistic problem-solving was discussed, with the goal of promoting resilience across syndemics and supporting multiple public health targets at once.
