TRB Webinar: The Right Ways to Deter, Detect, and Prevent Wrong Way Driving

September 17, 2024

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (EDT)

Past

As agencies are moving closer to Vision Zero, a multi-national road traffic safety project aiming to achieve a roadway system with no fatalities or series injuries, wrong-way driving crashes still cause hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries every year. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that shared practitioners’ experiences with wrong-way driving and solutions including deployment of effective countermeasures. Presenters discussed changes to the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

This webinar was based on NCHRP Research Report 881: Traffic Control Devices and Measures for Deterring Wrong-Way Movements.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program and the Standing Technical Committees on Freeway Operations and Traffic Control Devices.

The slides are linked in the meeting materials. View the recorded webinar below.
